Karim Noureldin, RSIM, 2011

Unveiled in December 2011 on the occasion of At the End of the Line, Karim Noureldin has created a permanent public work on the roller shutter of the gallery’s shopfront. Nourldin has created many architectural interventions in Switzerland and the UK, including a semi-permanent work in waterside contemporary’s former gallery space in Wharf Rd.

In 2007, Noureldin published MISR, a series of photographs of shop-fronts in Cairo, Egypt. These observations of local wall-paintings resonate to strategies searched in his own artistic work.

The work is visible from the street when the gallery is closed.

We are grateful to Tomas Matuch for his help in the execution of the work.
